ELITE has helped boost business at TL Aviation by providing a custom-built 3D airport environment for their home airport of Mönchengladbach (EDLN). In addition TL Aviation have purchased a visual system upgrade to a 3-channel curved screen layout, featuring 240 degrees field of view display of 15 metres overall.
The feedback from their flight students has been overwhelming as company director Tobias Lehmann puts it into words: “Thanks to the latest technical upgrade our ELITE S812 FNPT II simulator allows us to offer very effective and cost-efficient flight training for students getting their Private Pilots Licence PPL(A) and to conduct VFR flights in a realistic environment.”
As part of ELITE’s renowned aftersales service the staff of TL Aviation have been well looked after since the purchase of the ELITE S812 FNPT II in 2017. It was built based on the Piper Arrow IV and offered a glass cockpit layout with a 1-channel-visual system. Now, CEO and chief flight instructor Tobias Lehmann is very happy with their latest technical upgrade and says:
“With three projectors, a 240 degrees wide screen, four IT-servers and a 15 metres long Satellite View scenery our students can actually fly their first solo circuit on the simulator before doing it “in the real world”.
Furthermore, our students can build up confidence by practising any
kind of ground operations necessary such as engine start-up, taxiing procedures to the holding point and much more without stepping into the real plane, thanks to the realistic 3D scenery depiction of our airport.”
Jan H. Schnitzler, marketing manager at TL Aviation, sees a huge potential for the use of their simulator in the aviation market in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany and says: “We can now promote our simulator in the local VFR market at very competitive rates.” He personally experienced a flight in the newly upgraded S812 FNPT II and was totally overwhelmed: “It now feels like sitting in a real airplane, as one can now finally look out of the side windows. The feeling of spatial immersion is now very realistic.”, he summarizes his experience. The simulator is now being promoted and used by both students and pilots who want to refresh their radio navigation skills and go through emergency scenarios such as VFR2IMC.
Sales manager Mr René Huddlestone from Elite Simulation Solutions AG in Switzerland is very confident that TL Aviation in North Rhine-Westphalia has secured its role as a pioneering flight training school for many years to go. He says: “It has been a pleasure offering this tailor-made 3D scenery for their airport at Mönchengladbach as well as the curved screen upgrade. We look forward to working alongside this prestigious company and to continue providing the same established after-sales services that Elite is renowned for.”
