The Government Flying Training School of India, one of the oldest flight training organisations in that country, with a history stretching back to 1950, is now using an ELITE Evolution S812 FNPT II G1000 to help its students gain their licences – and is saving them half the cost of simulator time done during their courses.
ELITE is a world leader in the design and manufacture of PC-driven flight simulators. The Evolution S812 FNPT II G1000 supplied to the GFTS at its base at Jakkur Aerodrome, Bangalore, Karnataka State, is configured to replicate the Cessna 172 single engine aircraft, one of two Cessna types the school uses in its PPL and CPL training programme.
The system incorporates original Garmin G1000 instrumentation, as well as a 220 Degree field of view CAVE visual system and soon after installation was approved by the DGCA, India’s national aviation organisation.
Chief Flying Instructor at GFTS, Wg Cdr (Retd) Amarjeet Singh Dange, said: “In the absence of a simulator trainees had to go to Hyderabad or Mumbai to get their simulator training. Other schools charge 2,000 rupees per hour whereas for our new in-house simulator we can charge only 1,000 rupees an hour, as well as students saving on accommodation and travel costs, which are a burden to them.” There are currently 36 students at GFTS.
The simulator was sold via ELITE’s dealer in India, SRK Aviacom (I) Pvt Ltd, which is based at Dwarka, opposite IGI Airport in the country’s capital New Delhi.
Karnataka State’s Minister for Fisheries, Youth Empowerment and Sports, Sri Pramod Madhwara, recently carried out an official inauguration of the new ELITE installation, which marks a significant expansion of the training facilities offered by GFTS.
ELITE’s director of marketing and sales, René Huddlestone, said: “This is a very prestigious installation for our company, as GFTS is one of the longest established flight training organisations in India, with a pedigree going back well over 60 years. The S812 offers them a highly efficient platform for training its students.”
